The best chocolate for the best sports fans around. This is the first project I created for my Digital Prepress class at SUNY Cobleskill, and I was tasked with creating a brand and physical packaging for a chocolate bar. I knew from the beginning I wanted to make a sports-themed brand, because I wanted to create a new spin on sports-related candy, and diverge from the concept that they have to be based off of a specific athlete.
This project was created in one Illustrator file, with each flavor having its own layer within the document. The other layers held my margins/bleed, and another layer for a cutting/scoring guide. Which begs the question; "Why would you need to add cutting/scoring lines in the first place?"
The answer to that question: The Glowforge. A wondrous machine that can cut, engrave, score, and much more! I simply copy and pasted the cut/score layer into a new AI file, and saved it as a .SVG file, and uploaded it to the Glowforge program, and you can designate which parts of the document are the cut lines, which lines are scored, etc. After printing each page, they went into the Glowforge to be cut to specification, without the downside of any human error that would normally be present when cutting/folding a 3D model.
